Things You Should Know:
- Embroidery Field Size: The field size is the size of the embroidery design that you are stitching. The larger your field size, the more detailed and smaller you can go with your design. There are three types of field sizes: small, medium, and large.
- Throat Width: The throat width of the embroidery machine is what dictates the size of the design that you can use. For example, a wide throat will let you use large designs and a tight throat will let you use small designs.
- USB Port: It’s important to note that many embroidery machines are not compatible with laptops, tablets, and smartphones due to their USB port. If you’re looking for a machine that is compatible with these devices, make sure it has a USB port.
- Automatic Thread Cutting: One of the most important features of embroidery machines is how it cuts the thread. While some are automatic, others require you to manually cut the thread at a certain point in order to prevent knots and tangles.
- Embroidery Designs & Software: Once you have your embroidery machine, it’s time to buy some design software. There are many different types of embroidery design software available to help you get started.
- Usage: An embroidery machine is a computer-operated device used to sew letters, words, and images into the fabric. An embroidery machine has four main components: the sewing head, the feed dog, the needle, and the bobbin.

What to consider when shopping for an Embroidery Machine
1) Size
Consider your budget, the type of work you will be doing, and the size of embroidery designs you will be creating. If it is a personal use machine, think about how often you will use it as well as how often you might want to take it with you when traveling or going to different events for demonstrations.
2) Ease of use
While there is a lot to consider when shopping for an embroidery machine, the most important thing to think about is how easy it will be to use. Look for user reviews that talk about how intuitive and user-friendly the machine is.
3) Price
The price of a machine is usually dependent on the size of the embroidery hoop, the number of needles it has, and the type of machine.
4) Performance and Quality
The first thing to look at is performance and quality. You want a machine that will produce high-quality, durable embroideries with as little wear and tear on your fabric as possible.
5) Automatic Features
Automatic features like needle threader and thread cutter will make your life a lot easier. If you’re looking to save time, go with an embroidery machine that has at least 50 stitches per minute. You should also look for easy-to-use editing software if you don’t have any experience with computer embroidery before.

HOW DO I SET UP MY EMBROIDERY MACHINE?
While every embroidery machine is slightly different, they are all set up somewhat similarly. If you have a machine that is strictly for embroidery (and not sewing as well), then your setup is super simple.
If you have a sewing/embroidery combination machine, there are just a few parts you have to put together. There’s the main body of the machine (which looks a lot like a sewing machine), then there is the embroidery module, and finally, you have the hoops. So, once you set up the main body of the machine, all you need to do is connect the embroidery module. There should be a fairly straightforward way that these two pieces to attach. On my machine, they simply clip together and it’s pretty obvious when you have it in place due to the audible “click.”
If you have a pure embroidery machine like the Brother PE535 or the Brother 800. All you have to do is literally pull it out of the box.
To complete the setup, all you have to do is to attach the hoop to the embroidery arm. On my embroidery machine, I have to pinch two buttons together on the hoop, then set it in place on the arm, and then release the buttons to lock it. Again, it’s pretty easy to feel when you have it attached correctly as it clicks into place. Also, most machines will give you an error if you try to embroider anything with a hoop that’s not properly attached.
